Tree Rope Climbing FAQs

Tree Rope Climbing is a unique outdoor activity during where a climber uses a harness, ropes and a series of knots to climb trees. It’s a great way to relax and “get away from it all”.

Your tour includes a 2 hour tree climb, along with Pinzgauer (a 4-wheeled safari jeep type vehicle) rides to and from our scenic climbing site on the mountain, conservation information about the area from our expert tour guides, plus all the equipment and safety information you’ll need to have a safe and exhilarating adventure.

Your tour will last approximately 3 hours. You should arrive at our Big Bear Boulevard office and departure point a minimum of 15 minutes before your tour time to check-in and sign appropriate liability waivers. Vans will not wait for late arrivals – no exceptions!

You should expect to get approximately four climbs per tour.

Climbers may reach heights of 45 feet off the ground depending upon how quickly he or she progresses during the climbs.

Tree Rope Climbing is intended to be both exciting and relaxing, but safety is our top priority. The first one or two climbs start with a “slow & low” approach with branches about eight feet off the ground. Once the climber becomes more comfortable he or she can go higher. Our trees are inspected daily to assure that they are safe for climbing and are well cared for.

Prior reservations are highly recommended, however, walk-ins are accepted according to availability. Tours are offered several times daily year round. Please call or check our online reservation system for tour times and availability.

One tour can accommodate up to 8 people, but they do book up quickly. Book yours today!

The all-inclusive tour costs $99 per person.

For safety reasons, climbers must be at least 8 years of age. The maximum weight is 250 lbs. Each participant will be weighed upon check-in. No refunds will be given if you do not meet weight requirements so please confirm before booking.

Climbers must be in adequate health. Climbers should not be pregnant and be free from back, foot, heart or respiratory problems.

Climbers should dress appropriately for outdoor activity in the mountains. Climbers must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes, preferably hiking boots. Long hair must be tied back (preferably braided) at all times. Climbers should also bring appropriate outerwear, and a sense of adventure!

Action Tree Rope Climbing Tours is open year-round, weather permitting. In the event that your tour is cancelled due to weather, you may reschedule or receive a tour voucher. No refunds will be given.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our tours, we cannot allow spectators onto the mountain.
